The Story

When Dr. Hanna Sisley's health declined, she and her daughter Dr. Sue Sisley turned to botanical medicines and found a system stacked against access. Their decade-long fight ended with the first privately held DEA licenses to cultivate cannabis and whole psilocybin mushrooms, and a research program now serving veterans and the terminally ill.

The Work

A 33-minute documentary co-directed with the Field to Healed Foundation: interviews, the cultivation rooms at Scottsdale Research Institute, the Texas Capitol and SXSW 2025. Cinematography by Keven Siegert; edited by Justin Gurian, John Lenstrohm and Travis Thompson. Executive produced by the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation.

The Result

Award of Distinction in the Humanitarian Awards at the 2025 Best Shorts Competition, which honors films bringing awareness to health, social justice and equality while demonstrating excellence in craft. [Distribution and audience figures to be added.]
